Barter Exchange: How To Use Barter To Increase Your Profits
A barter exchange shouldn't be thought of as a slight income loss, but a way to help increase your business instead. It's called a barter exchange because you really do get something in return for a service you give away. Be sure to reflect on what you really need when you consider using a barter exchange to attract new customers and build new business contacts. You'll be happy with the deal if you get something you really want or need in return for trading a service or products.
After locating the objects or skills you want to barter for, you have to make up your mind what you're willing to offer, and how much the trade is worth. You won't feel that the trade is just unless there is equivalent value given to both parties. After you've reached parity, the swap should leave your mind at ease.
Many people will contact you about the possibility of barter exchange, particularly if you perform a service. If you do not have individuals knocking lined up outside your window, you must go out into the world and find them. The process of networking is the same as any other you have been involved with throughout your career.
Do not hesitate to speak with other entrepreneurs about the feasibility and desirability of bartering with them. They could refuse, but you have nothing to lose. They will have gotten to know about your merchandise and/or services. If you are turned down by someone you'd like to barter with, be certain you give that individual your business card anyway, along with a card or brochure describing your offerings.
The perfect opportunity to introduce someone to your services and products is when you find someone that is willing to trade with you. Care for their business the same as you would a paying client. Make sure that you give them the best you have to offer in order for them to spread the word, seeing that they are happy with what was given to them.
Make sure you provide your bartering buddies lots of cards and information about you, your products and services to pass on to their clients. You might even want to give a small discount to their referrals. Make sure you remember the golden rule for getting referrals, and that is to give referrals, if you are happy with what you receive in the barter exchange, be sure to tell every one you know.
